Landscape Lighting - Charlotte

At Limelight, we love working with other talented designers and contractors. For this gorgeous landscaping project in Charlotte, NC, we were asked to install outdoor lighting designed by a local landscape architect from the Solow Design Group, Inc.

Outdoor Lighting Objectives

During the initial design consultation, the homeowners’ lighting objectives were to accent hardscape features and landscaping throughout the property.

While many homeowners choose to highlight the architectural features of the home itself, there are many homeowners who would rather focus on lighting the landscaping. For this project, with the guidance of the landscape architect, the homeowners chose to focus on the landscaping.

In the end, we installed a total of 40 low voltage outdoor lights throughout the property.

Creating Depth with Light

The new landscaping surrounding this home was a dream to light. We love how this talented landscape architect was able to create depth and interest while also maintaining visual balance from all viewing angles.

There was certainly no shortage of gorgeous trees to light throughout this property and the result was stunning.

These path lights provide the perfect amount of light to this gorgeous circle drive.

Architectural Lighting

While the homeowners chose not to add architectural lighting to the home itself, we love how the landscape lighting provides ambient light that gently illuminates the architectural features of this home.

Navigational Lighting

There are so many reasons to install outdoor lighting, but here you can really see how lighting facilitates safe navigation throughout the property. Notice how each fixture provides just enough light to softly illuminate the pathway and stairs, creating visual interest in an areas that would normally be flat and dark.

Outdoor Lighting for Outdoor Living

The number one way to create an inviting, nighttime atmosphere in an outdoor living space is to add ambient lighting. Notice how the path lights here provide just enough ambient light to create an inviting atmosphere for the firepit and outdoor dining area.

One of our favorite areas of this lighting project was this landscaped alcove under the porch and adjacent to the outdoor living area. The use of these sparker lights at varying heights create a unique ambiance for this creative space.
