Outdoor Lighting Objectives

During the initial design consultation, the homeowner’s lighting objectives were to highlight the front of his home and install navigational lighting on the path from the driveway to the front entrance. The homeowner wanted the lighting to compliment, not overpower the features of the home. We ended up installing a total of 14 low voltage outdoor lights to achieve the desired look.

Enhancing Curb Appeal

In the front, we used a combination of traditional uplights, wall washes, and miniature, gutter-mounted uplights to highlight the architectural features of this home and increase curb appeal at night.

Notice how we installed smaller uplights in the peaks to make sure that the light carried from the base of the house up to the roofline. We also installed a small light above the entrance to avoid a dark shadow from the lights in front of the porch. This really accentuates the window above the porch.

We even installed lighting on the peak above the garage to ensure that the lighting was even from the left side of the home to the right.

Navigational Lighting

There are so many reasons to install outdoor lighting, but here you can really see how lighting facilitates safe navigation throughout the property. We love these traditional path lights! Stylistically, they work perfectly with the architecture of this home. Together with the architectural lighting, they create a warm and inviting atmosphere leading up to the front entrance.
