Project Spotlight:

Garden Lighting - Myers Park

Outdoor lighting has come a long way in recent years. The fixtures and lamps from ten years ago just don’t compare to what’s currently on the market and this lighting project illustrates this beautifully. Sometimes it is necessary to replace an existing lighting system. In this situation, we replaced all the fixtures with upgraded LED lights that will last for many years to come. From the beautiful courtyard and magnolia trees, to the stepping stone path and stunning, dual pergolas, we were able to highlight the best features of this outdoor space.

Outdoor Lighting Objectives

During the initial design consultation, the client’s lighting objectives were to replace the existing fixtures which included a combination of path lights, uplights, and well lights. The homeowner had a clear vision for the types of fixtures he wanted so we set up a second meeting with sample fixtures to make sure we could match our design to his vision. We ended up installing a total of 30 low voltage outdoor lights throughout the property.

Pergola Lighting

The path from the detached garage leading to the rear entrance of the home was covered by beautiful, dual pergolas. These pergolas also created an opening into the beautiful courtyard garden. We replaced the existing flush mount lamps with high quality LED lamps. We also chose a narrower beam angle (25 degree) so that the light would be directed up the columns.

Creating Visual Interest and Depth with Light

Lighting trees throughout a property creates visual interest and depth in areas that would normally be dark and flat. We especially love the light on these beautiful Magnolia trees flanking the entrance to the garage. Also, notice how the light from the pergola gently illuminates the row of Crepe Myrtles. Stunning!

Navigational Lighting

There are so many reasons to install outdoor lighting, but here you can really see how lighting facilitates safe navigation throughout the property – and the traditional path lights really work well with the landscaping and traditional architecture of this home.
